I have had beautiful red and/or blue potatoes with russeted skin. I don't have real good candidates of those right now. I always thought the industry would want them but I think it is only normal people who would enjoy the novelty.
I have two lines of Squat Orange seedlings transplanted and ready to go to the field. My past experience indicated that blue skin male parents pollinized many of the berries, thus I am hoping for blue skin, orange flesh as my fave to find. I have to careful where to plant...one of my neighbors had temps down to 30 and killed her tomatoes three days ago.

;D this will keep me wondering all summer long what would be the flesh colors at the end. Am I going to get the ellusive blue skin/deep orange flesh? Is one of the Amey X blue inside and russeted? The whole TPS uncertaintly is very good for my curiosity and I am looking forward to this season as it develops. Keep tuned.

In May I sowed or resowed most of my TPS including Russian Blue F2 (Durgan 2009), Wendy's unknown blue 2009 F2 and several of Tom's: 2. 3232008 F1, Red White and Blue F2?, Pig Knuckles F2?, Orangutan F2?, Pokhipsie F2?, Mazama Blue F2?, Redder Blood F2? Now they're all in pots with one variety in each, standing outside in a shaded area. There are at least 5 strong sprouts in Durgan's Russian Blue and 14 tiny ones in Wendy's unknown blue, but I didn't check Tom's in details.

I am very late with my TPS sowing but still, I'm hoping for some minitubers in autumn. Anyway, this is what I'm growing, not much, but this is my first time: Toro Pan is obviously leading the race:)

Here is a recent picture of the Diamond Toro I started. Beautiful plant! Can't wait to see what it produces! and again in another container with two Diamond Toro and 1 Suytu Vilquina (I really didn't think they'd do well planted so late in the season, but they are happy by my back fence under the neighbor's pine tree)

Update: There are 6 sprouts in Durgan's Russian Blue and 18 in Wendy's unknown blue, but I didn't check Tom's in details. It would be wrong to distinguish between "strong" and "tiny" seedlings, but none have been potted up. I sowed the remainder of Durgan's Russian Blue (2-4 I think), and am also out of Wendy's unknown blue, but not most of Tom's selfed TPS.

I have all my TPS potted up in 5gal nursery pots. I am adding media as they grow. Some are growing faster than others. The extra are in 1-2 gal pots just to get small tubers. From back to front: Huagalina, Skagit Beets, Yungay, Suytu Vilquina, La Pan, Amey X From back to front: Mystery, My blue 2010, Squat Orange, Amos x Golden Amey, La Pan, Fripapa

hello! I am new to this board and am also newly fascinated by this really nice tps-growing. I was reading about Tom Wagners breeding with the old scandinavian landrace potato called Röda krokar into Lady krokar earlier in this forum. This potato is as far as i know a part of the Mandel-fingerling potato types here in Scandinavia. There use to be several old kinds off fingerling, nowadays only the Mandel/Puikula is grown commercially. The old varieties before the modern Mandel were supposedly Röda krokar (also called Röd mandel) and one Blå mandel (which is often confused with Tysk blå) and one purpleflowered whiteskinned Mandel. Anyway, the nordic genetic bank (Nordgen) have some info of Röda krokar here nordgen.org/index.php/skand/content/view/full/344 and is looks nothing like the link to the röda krokar-picture which Tom wrote here earlier. Is there any picture of tubers of Lady krokar available? It would be really interesting to see what it looks like. I wonder if make any sense here at all. I'm just really into old potato strains.. This year the only tps i have is of Blå Congo. One small tiny seedling. /Axel

You can count on photographs if I have any luck.

I have seen two sprouts in the newly sown Russian Blue (2-4 TPS), making it 8 totally, and there are at least 20 of Wendy's unknown blue, and I still don't know how many of Tom's.

Squat Orange TPS seedling is blooming for me. I noticed few plants with buds forming. I am adding some fertiizer this coming weekend to see it they get going. Then again last year none of them bloom for me. So any blooms are just perfect. Here it is!

This is my current status: Wendy's unknown blue: 1 (original pot with several plants, smaller than the ones in individual pots), 9 pots with one plant in each, 5 pots without visible sprouts. Durgan's Russian Blue: 7 pots, mostly 1 plant in each, probably one empty and maybe two plants in one or two. Tom Wagner's varieties: 3 + 2 + 3 plants in individual pots, no check on varieties, at least 6 varieties in original pots, some of them with more than one plant, here are my biggest ones. Next year I'll sow more of Tom Wagner's potatoes, including the same as this year and a recent order (Suytu Vilguina, chunguina, Yungay, Skagit Beets, Diamond Toro and free bonus Kern Toro x Blue Blood Russet F1), and I'll try to keep better track of them. This season I'll mostly only be able to recognize the skin colour: blue/purple, red/pink, orange/yellow, white/neutral. I will not eat/try any, all tubers (I hope there will be some) will be used as seed potatoes next year.
