Update on some of my TPS.
So far,I have 3 Suytu Vilquina growing in 3" cups. SV #1 (the most vigorous) is taller than the cup by a good inch. It has a definite pink tint to both the UNDERSIDE of the leaves and the stem. The top of the leaves are a darker green. SV#2 is only slightly smaller than #1. It also has a pink tint to the underside of the leaves, but not the stem. The top of the leaves are also darker green. SV#3 is about half the size of the other two, with no evidence of coloring.
I also have 2 Agria Blue Blood growing in 3" cups. ABB #1 is almost as large as the SV#2. Slight evidence of pinkish/red on underside of leaves. ABB#2 is smaller with no evidence of coloration
So far, I have 1 Howie Mandel. It is more compact. Stems appear to have a reddish tint to them. Intense purplish color on the underside of the leaves.
Lastly, I have 2 Diamond Toro. These are more compact and leafier. No coloring noticed on the stems, but definite reddish coloring on the underside of the leaves.
I have a few other seeds planted, but they are being slow to germinate....
I'll try to take pictures soon. My goal is to try to get these to set tiny tubers to plant in the Fall. It is consistently in the high 80's and low 90's now. I think they'd die of heat stroke, if I planted them out now (they are getting some direct daily sunlight).
Any suggestions or tips to make that happen would be greatly appreciated.

So far I've sown these TPS (Unknown Blue 2009 F2 from wmontanez, and some from Tom Wagner: at least 12 4332008 F1 (mostly Skagit Valley Gold), Red White and Blue F2?, Pig Knuckles F2?, Orangutan F2?, Pokhipsie F2?, Mazama Blue F2?, 6 Agria x Blue Blood Russet F1), but not all, as I still have Durgan's Russian Blue and Tom Wagner's Diamond Toro, Gold Caesar, Kiva, Land Races, Quarter Master, Redder Blood, and didn't sow them. If I had more space, I'd probably sow all, but some have to wait.

owiebrain, Of the 65 varieties you have/are growing, which ones stand out? i am also a tomato seed fiend, with close to 100 varieties in hand...(not all grown yet).

I potted up several varieties yesterday and found 2 of them already had pea size potatoes. They were still in a seed start cell tray and were precocious enough to make spuds there.

I finally got the rest of my TPS seedlings separated out over the weekend. I'll have to get a count of each when I go outside this afternoon. They really enjoy spending the non-chilly days outside. owiebrain, Of the 65 varieties you have/are growing, which ones stand out? i am also a tomato seed fiend, with close to 100 varieties in hand...(not all grown yet). Oh, goodness. There's a set-up for a long-winded answer. LOL So as not to side-track this TPS thread, I'll answer over on the tomato thread Wendy started here: tatermater.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=370 Hope that's okay?

In the allotment (sowing and keeping at home is not an option, but the allotment house should be frost free at this time) I noticed that several TPS have sprouted, but are quite leggy. I don't know exactly which varieties, but will find out later, and I think Wendy's Unknown Blue 2009 F2 sprouted.

Gunnarsk,
I am glad the TPS is germinating for you. I am planting those F2 walnut size tuber segregations next weekend 5/8 and the following 5/15 ...will keep you posted as they grow to see if anything looks promising. So far I liked 2 and one is winning for not breaking dormancy too soon and storing well.
I had my hands full with potato planting. I started Tom's potatoes on a raised bed this weekend (5/1)...grand total of 34 clones! This will be the year I learn the 1001 ways of eating potatoes and then select my favorites.
TPS seedlings are growing rapidly after the first pot-up transplant but of course I have them indoors. They enjoyed the last 3 days soaking the sun but I have 2 weeks more to go before frost free day. I decided to grow them in containers that way they are separated when I harvest. Pictures soon

I'll be trying to give an relatively complete report of my tps growing this year.
First objective is to produce enough planting taters for next year. Enough for a 20 meter (about 66') double row for my self and enough to distribute among my friends and through the local gardening association.Only new clones from new varieties.
I guess the european/global seed mafias will not be very happy with this kind of activities, but that's part of my motivation.
I hope to be of some help for the tatermater,as far as in my possibilities.
I ordered 3 varieties Oregon coast Orang utan Tollocan fiesta As bonus I got Lumpers gold
I planted at three dates:7-03,21-03,27-03 for orang utan and oregon coast Only 7-03 for tollocan fiesta and lumpers gold. I dispose of a comfortable little greenhouse on the ssw side of my house. With a small heating plate at night and very clouded days the soil temp was about 18C(65F) But a few times dropped to about 10C 50Fwhen I forgot to turn on the heating. On sunny days temp rised sometimes to 27C (about 80F)
first germination was about 8 days for oregon coast,9 days for orang utan,20 days for Tollocan fiesta,32 days for lumpers gold.
rates were about 70% after 15days for oregon coast, 63% after 15 days for orangutan 30% after 38 days for tollocan fiesta,20% after 32 days for lumpers gold. What I noticed as special about Tollocan fiesta that it started with one plantule, and days later the following ones were crowded near the first one as if the small plant stimulated germination of surrounding seeds.Probably with more patience the rate would be much higher, but one day you have to plant out.
Strange about lumpers gold was that all the few(3) plantules emerged on day 32.
Because of slow germinating of TF and LG I sowed them only once.I'll keep the seeds for next year hoping that with aging results will be better. I fired up most of the oregon coast and all of the urang utan seeds.
I planted the seedlings in 5 cm x5cm cells about 12 days after emerging,in the garden about 4 weeks after emerging.
I planted a double row of somewhere between 120 and 150 plants constituted 50/50 urang utan and oregon coast with three tollocon fiesta .And one 'test bed' with 3 oregon coast,3orang utan,3 tollocan fiesta and 3lumpers gold.
Hilling up(=cleaning up) is becoming of urgency now (allready!). The season is exceptionally early this year, but we need desperately rain.
I will be back with the follow up and pics.

From France...
Yes, this is part of my motivation as well.
Yes, this is something I have seen for years...a first seedling germinating in a tight cluster of sown seed will spur germination in otherwise inhibited seed.
TPS will always amaze me in their vast array of germination habits. They still act like weed seed, whereas some of the seed will lie dormant for years only to germinate with ease thereafter. I don't know how many times I would dump the remains of my germination trays only to find seedlings sprout even years later if that soil media is used again.

2 months TPS update These has been hardening off outdoors now that the day temperatures are 55-70F. The east coast has been getting too much rain and overcast or cloudy days and cold nights. I left them outside few days that the night temps were 50F. Today again dipping into 45F. My OP Amey X TPS Richard's Mystery TPS I peaked in the pots by lifting the cluster and to see any stolons developing potatoes and Oregon Peaks has white potatoes forming and one of the OP TPS from Lumper Nordic has pink tubers forming. None of the other has anything yet. They were sowed and exposed to the same environment indoors and outdoors. Is that a sign of early maturity?

Healthy looking plants!
I found a little potato, and I mean little, as I was reusing some media. I am going to pot it up and see what happens.
And your OP Blue is doing well Wendy!

Potting up and transplanting. I have been getting too much rain so I haven't finish my TPS plantings so I decided to pot up once more until I am ready in the next week or so...in the final destination. I found some new roots developing along the buried stem and some potatoes forming already. SQUAT ORANGE In their pot OREGON PEAKS AMOS AMEY x GOLDEN AMEY La Pan, Skagit Beets, Hagualina, Yungay, Fripapa, Suytu Vilquina are yet to develop tubers so I buried them more LA PAN Segregation of AMEY X...one little blue spud? 2 russeted it seems and few white? I shall wait ;D

Wendy,
It is great to see those photos. I especially like the AMOS AMEY x GOLDEN AMEY cross which shows the little russets forming. I am hoping that someone will find a great russet with yellow flesh. Amos Amey is a Golden Amey cross, therefore you have a great backcross clone.
I hope you do have an accidental cross to a blue with your Amey Russet seedlings.
The Squat Orange is growing out stolons that don't want to produce tubers yet...those stolons will eventually emerge as new plants off the side of the original....as the season get shorter days ...it will then tuberize. Looks as if the seedling will have purplish skin with either white or light yellow flesh...it does not look like it carries the illusive orange flesh.

I sure hope Amey X has a blue potato by accidentaly crossing with Mule Skinner Blues as the dad, is a Russeted skin blue flesh possible? How would a SQUAT orange with orange flesh look like? I see most with the purple tint stems...I have another few still little as they germinated later and I don't discard them so I might still have a chance The bigger seedlings before separating
