I am growing 7 types of potatoes this year and I would like to store seed potatoes over the winter. How would I go about storing potatoes for the following season? Any special containers or precautions?
Notes: Winter gets to -30 I have an unfinished basement and it's temp is probably in the 50's. I have a breezeway between house and garage which is not heated, but a closet there on the outside of the kitchen stays in the high 30's to 40 degrees all winter. Could I store them there?
thanks, Dean

That place you mentioned that stays cool is OK for most of the Fall/Winter. I will be experimenting with several folks this harvest to help local harvest storage with mostly back yard folks. More on that later this year.

When you get around to saying more on this topic, I'm curious what your opinion is on storing the potatoes in an airtight container. This is how I've had the best luck, in a closed plastic container buried in the ground below our frost line.
