Of the 84 varieties of just this list I am directly responsible for about 12% of the varieties and perhaps as high as 17% of some contribution to the list due to outcrosses, lost or changed names, etc. The GNIS update confused me a bit because of the language barrier and I don't know what additional information they included since some were registered much prior to that date of March 2008.
When I did a search for potatoes and did a translations.com translation I was able to find this....
European catalogs of the types of potato plants
Here the results of your research (177 of 25857 documents). The removed varieties benefiting from a marketing delay do not figure on this list.
18 pages of potato varieties listing those 177 varieties.
Although 177 named varieties may seem like a lot to some people, I name more new ones than that in my own breeding program each year.
Laurent, I will have to go to the Tomodori website again to refresh my memory of how that site looks and what information would be useful to add from my work.
