There are dozens of squash/pumpkin that store very well for months and in some cases over a year. The heavyweight storage champion could well be the "shark fin melon" or ficifolia. It is said to easily last 18 months in storage or longer. I also have good results with calabazas. Seminoles should be good but mine get eaten sooner. Do a quick web search and you will find more than enough types. In my local the moschatas work better cause the rough leaves discourage caterpillars which otherwise rampage.

Try the Red kuri. www.specialtyproduce.com/index.php?item=4881I have the seed but haven't grow it yet hence cannot say from personal experience whether it lives up to the drought tolerent maxima written about. Yields seem low from the write up but this may be due to drought!

i have trialed akiri kuri some year ago and i like it a lot for its taste and storage ability but in drought condition i have harvest just 2 little pumpkins with tiny flesh! in the same patch the candy roaster produce more flesh(1kg versus 1,90) obviusly not the max of his possibility but good! thanks for your tips Emanuele

Ask that question at HG, there are many southern USA squash freaks there...do you have a wetter season? Like spring or else?
