Is it possible that azul toro made a seed berry? I am not sure, I could have had bora valley labelled as azul, bora valley makes many berries. But some of my berries are deep blue purple, and many green. I always get prolific berries from bora valley.
If someone is interested in some of the bora valley berries let me know. I dont usually get time to work with TPS.

Bora Valley is one of my favorites. They're good cooked, or raw on a snack tray. Sometimes I grate them, raw, and add to a simple salad. How do you prepare yours? I use them for a crummy tummy too. Just throw a raw one in the blender with some water and make a slurry to drink down. Chances are it will fix you right up.
I wish we had a clearing house where we could send our TPS for world-wide distribution.

Hello sweetquiet, I love bora valley also. Never heard of eating it raw. We fry or bake most of our potatoes.

Ann, I already have thousands of lines of TPS in stock available for world wide distribution but I have to charge a fee for them. There is precious little money to me made but a flurry of sales in the late winter early spring. With more and more people saving TPS and I had encouraged that...the give away and trade hurts my research and business model. I also like to treat my TPS with tsp, hot water and a chlorine rinse. Few do that and I don't want to spread any potential pathogen.
also about Bora Valley as using raw potatoes as a food...I like em raw.

When I first developed Azul Toro from a cross in 1995 from Negro y Azul and Kern Toro and grew the clone from 1996 on .....it had developed berries from time to time. I noticed when it loaded up with virus that it was reluctant to produce berries and anyone who has the original clone has to be diligent to save the healthiest tuber lines possible.
The bottom line is that it will produce berries.

Tom, I'm mortified that I stepped on your toes with my thoughts about a clearing house for TPS. That was not my intent at all. It simply did not occur to me that it would affect your income. Sorry.

I get a few Azul Toro berries most years. It can be induced to set berries by planting the tubers at the surface of the soil and preventing development of stolons.

Ann, it's OK! However, since this site tatermater proboards is devoted to my research firstly and others secondly, it is my intent to make some income selling TPS. I am not organized to offer a proper sales outlet, not knowing beans about operating a website.
Other sites talk trading TPS much of the time and I guess I should be happy to see this trading in TPS grow, it does little to grow my own. I struggle to find a new way to do my research....but begging for space to plant and still having to do most or all of the work planting and such is getting old. One of my major plots is off limits to me unless I ask for permission to enter the garden area.
