It would be fun to follow the seedlings from that berry. Thanks for the pictures.

Yeah, it would have been, had they continued developing. Tom knows what happened but for the rest of you who haven't heard me drop the other shoe yet, the plant went into premature senescence and promptly keeled over. The berries stopped developing at about the size of a pea, and aborted.
I told Trixtrax about it, who proposed cleaning it up in tissue culture. Speaking of whom, I'm about to dig some for him and Wingnut.

Tom and Rob I'd like to invite you both to my "potato party" Nov 3rd. I will give you a call if you don't respond here. Any pics of this spud?

Tom and I might both be out of town around then. Is this a harvest party? If so maybe we can help out before we go.
You'll have better than a photo: I'll send you the tubers I already promised. The tops are totally dead and the tubers--assuming there are any but I have no reason to think not--waiting to be harvested. Your share will show up at your house soon.

I will be done with harvesting by the party, but will have tubers on display, potato based food, and good company. I appreciate the tubers. I have a number of ones you may like as well.

2lbs, 7 oz of tubers from one plant. I'll harvest the rest later today or tomorrow. Some of those were bigger plants so might get some good yield on those.
Not bad considering their premature senescence and the modest size of the plant.
The tubers by the way are slightly irregular, "primitive" looking fingerlings. Their flesh is mottled deep-purple, but not uniformly saturated.
Doug, did you ever get your tissue-culture lab set up? I am tempted to spring for a "kitchen tissue culture lab kit". Then I could clean up some of these potatoes, and possibly make some money propagating rare plants I own, to pay for the cost of the kit and supplies.

I have not set the lab up yet, but have all the equipment. Just finding the time to frame in the space, and actually set things up is the big problem.
