Hello,
I'm doing a program focusing solely on potatoes. I was looking over my university's extension publications, and the variety recommendations they have look like they haven't been updated in 10 or 20 years (and the person who wrote it beforehand did commercial production).
So if any of y'all have potato variety recommendations for a climate that gets hot early and is usually dry, I'd appreciate it. Varieties must be easily obtainable, I can't recommend something that most people will give up trying to find.
So far I have: Yukon Gold, Dark Red Norland, Kennabec, Superior, Russet Norkotah and purple viking.
Looking at, but haven't researched yet: Cheiftan Anushcka Mountain Rose Sangre Satina Nicola Yukon Gem Peter Wilcox
And Bora Valley, which has alot of conflicting information regarding it. I have found a disturbing number of different days to maturity for this one. It looks like it has heat and drought tolerance, so I am excited about it.

Greeney2 where are you located? I looked Bora Valley in the Maine Potato Lady catalog they have it listed as Early. If you go to their website they list the attributes and disease resistance per variety. www.mainepotatolady.com/productcart/pc/viewcategories.asp example: Satina An early- to mid-season German variety with high yields and resistance to rhizoctonia, black leg, scab, and hollow heart. Field resistance to late blight; good resistance to tarnished plant bugs and leafhoppers. Very good storage.
