This is partly related to the topic earlier on blight resistance in tomatoes.....http://tatermater.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=239
where Patrick asked about the following numbers of tomatoes...noted previously on by these in this list....
As I was transplanting yesterday afternoon I came across the Shapie scribbles across the zip locks of seed...too lazy to write down a map legend of my sowing...and up late....I thought it may be of quite a bit of interest to Patrick in the Netherlands and to Emma in England.
Tomato seed
# 31
This is part of my effort to assess the importance of PH2 in a homozygous match-up in a hybrid with PH3 from only one parent...
This is an F-1 hybrid of Skykomish to WV700. Therefore, it is a PH2 PH3 line crossed to PH2.
When I pulled the seedlings out of the starter plug, I was pleased to see the hybrid vigor of the seedlings. The plants will produce lots of large cherry tomatoes and I am hoping someone in Europe saves the seed to the F-2 level for more testing for tolerance to whatever races of late blight are over there.
Surprise ? packages
one or two may be Sweet Casady. You won't be able to resist this one....Ex. flavor, sweet, one inch by 2 1/2 long red and yellow striped fruits...too bad the numbers got mixed!

This is an F-1 hybrid of Green Zebra to New Green Zebra
I have been trying to tell people that if you have some disappointments with the Green Zebra....this hybrid may be a solution...Who knows?

This one is still perhaps segregating for the PH2 and PH3 genes. I am selecting this one to have small red cherry sized tomatoes...so if any of these seedlings survive the blight...please save the seed and pass them on. This is nearly stabilized but I am truly hoping for the right combination of genes to help fight the blight.

This is an F-1 hybrid of Pink Scrofa and my 553309 that is an F-1 of NC2cm35-10 - Gamblers - Sweet N Sour - WV700 - Blue P-20 background. Pink Scrofa is a brownish pink plum with green stripes. The hope with these seedlings is to find one that has some blue genes it and maybe, just maybe, some PH2 genes. This could be a lot of fun to play around with in the next generation.....especially if one saves fruits from many seedling plants.....maybe even a brown plum with blue strips.

This is an F-1 hybrid of my Beyond Verde Claro to my 553309 that is an F-1 of NC2cm35-10 - Gamblers - Sweet N Sour - WV700 - Blue P-20 background. The hybrid will be mostly red and or pink cherries, but hopefully some will carry some of the blue genes and late blight res. genes PH2 from WV700. Beyond Verde Claro is my improvement over the Verde Claro which in turn is an improvement over the Green Grape. The cross this year will be somewhat lackluster but next year some segregates could be super sweet, green with a blue blush. Who knows?
If I find more of the numbered line of tomatoes, I will post them...meanwhile I just found some of the true potato seed that I sent last Sept.

F-1 hybrid Negro y Azul x John Tom Kaighin
This is wild...throwing some of the best colors and flavors at each other....Super blue/black flesh crossed to yellow flesh. Some of the hybrids will be super blue-black and some yellow ....I would like to see if someone could find just the right amount of blue and yellow flesh that could be appealing as well as sky high in the flavenoids...super high nutritional combinations of anthocyanins and carotenoids.

An F-1 hybrid of Gracie's Harry x John Tom Kaighin.
Half of the progeny will have the trichome hairs that resist insect activity, but have much better flavor imparted from JTK. Looking for round yellow with a fair yellow flesh and some late blight res. as well. Gracie's Harry is a cross of Gracie Stein...a Semlo/Stina x Stina clone to NY 131 (King Harry). JTK is a cross between Lump O'Gold and Tom Kaighin.
You can't get much better than this for flavor, insect resistance and Nordic good eating qualities.
#17
F-1 hybrid of Skagit Valley Gold x Thumbed Nose
100% diploid potatoes looking for round yellow potatoes with orange flesh. Fast cooking times...as little as 5 minutes in boiling water.
#16
A hybrid of French Fingerling to Magic Molly
Looking for a variety of colors in fingerlings and round oval potatoes of either red or blue skin...mixed fleshed colors of yellow with red tinge or blue tinge and maybe even bright red flesh or blue flesh. The rate of fingerlings go up if the the suspect male parent of Magic Molly is Purple Peruvian...of course the female parent of Magic Molly is Red Beauty.
#28
F-1 of Finishing the Centennial x Rollocan
Quite a complicated cross involving the pedigree of Yellow Finn, Centennial Gold, Kern Toro, Gold Pan, and Tollocan. Flavor is the name of the game!
#19
A hybrid of Michigan October x John Tom Kaighin
Looking for the ultimate in red skin, yellow flesh, late blight res from both sides, high flavor, and broad cooking attributes.
#24
Katahdin x John Tom Kaighin
Looking for some nice round yellows here...Classic spuds that could give the Yukon Gold the run for the money.
If I take the time to find more of the pedigrees of these seeds sent to Europe....I will enter them here.
It took a couple of hours of compile this record but I felt the time was right to update a little of what is going on.
