I am looking forward too. Hopefully Tom will offer some TPS and some new tomato varieties. Tom, will you?

I was hoping to get some of toms tomatoes also but it looks like that won't happen this year. I was hoping that he would have a few wild species and crossed lines for sale, that I might use for my own tomato crosses that I'm working on.

I will work with my own crosses too, but it is sad that there comes nothing new this year.

what I find saddest is that some of you people don't seem to grasp is that Tom is first and foremost a plant BREEDER who works with tomatoes and potatoes, and it is a gift when he is able to sell some via his own website. you people should be ashamed of yourselves for complaining in a judgmental manner because you are disgruntled that he is not selling seeds 'now'... selling seed to individuals and small growers is not the most important part of his work...the breeding is.
When Tom's and his compatriots' schedules allow, Tom is generous enough to offer a limited number of his seed-lines for sale at his website so that avid gardeners have access to some of his fascinating hybrids. At least some were also available from his colleagues in Hawaii last time I checked that website, and there are also others who re-sell some of his lines now and then on Ebay or elsewhere.
How many other professional breeders are any of you aware of who do anything similar? Tom is the only one I know of who only does breeding and doesn't have a nursery or online store that produces income to help support his work, which is a true labor of Love. this means he is often struggling to find ways to 'make it all work'; which exacerbates the challenges of having a sales site online. One only has so many functional hours in each day, and every one deserves to have life outside of work. . I am grateful that many years Tom and his colleagues muster the time and energy to create and maintain a web-store, even if only for a couple of months. I keep his store bookmarked and will continue that so I can check in now and then to see if anything has changed, because as i learned last time the store was open, the choicest items sell out very quickly.
thank you Tom for sharing some of the fruits of your work when it works out that you can do that and still have enough time for the more important things in your life, such as family. Even though I missed getting anything new this year I am still grateful that i could make an order last year and I hope to be able to do so again in the future.
Please keep up the good work and keep taking care of yourself...
and kind regards to you all

Well said Geoffrey. Breeder that has been very generous with his varieties and certainly not a businessman. I hope he continues since his new lines are always interesting. Any other ways to purchase seed tubers or TPS supporting a good cause like conservation is through Curzio Caravati of the Kenosha Potato Project. He offers TPS through Seed Savers Exchange. He has a good collection and about 10 or so of Tom's potatoes. I donated few tubers myself to Curzio derived from Tom Wagner lines and Curzio has started to get TPS produced from Tom's lines as well. Curzio is not a breeder he is a conservationist and curator but offers OP TPS in case anyone can't wait until Tom comes back. this is one example: exchange.seedsavers.org/catalog/listing.aspx?itm=140743

What is sad is Tom don't even respond to the forum... My first and Last post... I will no longer try to buy anything from him... I'm out of here... He responds all the time when he has time. Try exercising a little patience. And if you just can't stand it you can call him and bug him and he will most likely send you some seed for free as long as you advance his line and send him some seed back.

People should not talk bad about other People because they want something they are not getting. Ofcourse we all would like some of Toms amazing creations in our garden. But before you start naging remember this! We are all People with our own hardships one way or another. The one more then someone else. Hè dedicated his whole life tot bring awesome stuff to the world and what is his reward? Hè doesnt have a dime to scratch his back. So if we want him to keep going we need to get him funded before we are selfish People

Thanks everyone for your patience, or lack thereof, during this time of little or no income or funding for my work.
I am still actively seeking funding but realize that I am not a businessman. There are chances of getting support through research grants but I am not the organizer for them. Seed sales have never been sufficient to warrant paying for professional help and my friend Rob has done what he could over the last few years. Farming out my seed for others to sell has met with disastrous results.
I am still seeking no strings attached funding for my breeding work so that I can continue being a free breeder or an open source plant breeder. Thanks everyone until I can get some support to make my $819.00 social security money go a little further.

Tom, I just wanted to say a sincere Thank You for all the work (though I know it is a passion!) you have done/created all these years! You have inspired and invigorated many growers and their culinary worlds! I am glad to patiently wait for next year or the year after when you can begin anew! Thanks again for your creations! And to the Green Zebras in the world!!
