Hi, I'm not finding info for many varieties as to whether they are late or early. Are there "waxy" salad potatoes? Good storage varieties. I'd LOVE to buy potato SEEDS this year, but I don't want to order potatoes with no idea what they are. Potatoes I'm interested in so far: Alamosa golds. Yukon types, early? Katahdin. this I found described on other sites as a good all purpose white that is late. Is it a good keeper? Maris Piper. Must have French fry potatoes. Early or late? Keeping qualities? I have no idea which of your red skin potatoes are early, which are late. Which are salad types? Are there any good keepers? I would love answers so that I can order and get seeds started.
Thank You!

La Ratte - early maturity, waxy, salad and boiling type
Skagit Valley Gold - Let Tom describe for you, but is small early yellow/orange with excellent eating quality
Azul Toro - very good production, throws a lot of different colored offspring, general purpose variety
I could toss in 3 or 4 more but don't know your climate. I'm in the hot humid southeast so difficult to mature some varieties that might be good suggestions for your conditions.

Thank you so much for responding! Climate info would help I live in Ohio, Zone 6a. Cold humid winters and hot humid summers (80-98*F most days). (Lovely spring and fall or I'd be out of here!) Last frost is generally late April, but has been a bit wild the last two years. First frost is usually in mid Sept. Last year it was mid October! 20"+ rain during growing season.

Have you checked out these folks? www.potatogarden.com/index.htmlThey have good selections and descriptions and are very helpful if you call or e-mail. Tell them where you are and they'll help you with the right choices for your area and conditions.

Thanks Wol1, wish I could respond more, but trying to pack seeds, mailings, and preparing my notes for my European travel is keeping me from completing a lot of loose ends...like the tatermater.proboards.com site. The potato TPS described with Yukon Gold types would be early nut even Maris Piper which is most likely selfed will throw different maturities despite that the variety itself is a med to mid-late variety. Keeping ability depends on how cold your storage is and how long you need to store tubers....too much for me to talk about now. When I get back I will hopefully update some things with more info. Thanks everyone.
